Water Quality Tracking System

In cooperation with the manufacturer of spectral sensors Trios GmbH and the Fraunhofer ISOB, the Water Quality Tracking System based on the IoTOS Suite was implemented.

Safe access to clean water is becoming increasingly important worldwide and water is an increasingly important resource. In order to develop suitable solutions for these future markets, information and its exchange play a decisive role. Based on the "OGC SensorThings API" with the "FROST Server" of Fraunhofer ISOB and the IoTOS Suite, the consortium has developed a hybrid cloud capable "Water Quality Tracking System". The FROST Server is a result of Fraunhofer contributions to international organizations such as the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and GEOSS (Group of Earth Observatin System of Systems).

The Water Quality Tracking System includes data visualization based on a regular or permanent acquisition of measured values e.g. nitrate, nitrite, organic components (CODeq, BODeq, DOCeq, TOCeq) etc. of the trios spectral sensors via an IoT gateway. The collected data can be used for condition monitoring of water quality in rivers, lakes and oceans. In the future, hybrid cloud-enabled applications for the control of drinking water and wastewater treatment plants will also be offered.
